Give Help

Volunteer

Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

Sparkhill foodbank is reliant on the skills and generosity of the local community who give their time to help their neighbours in need. We currently have over 60 volunteers across our 6 centres but with the recent increase in demand, we need more help!

Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

 Foodbank opportunities

At the moment we are looking for people who enjoy meeting and helping those in need face-to-face:

  • 2-3 volunteers to work in our Balsall Heath Satellite on Thursday mornings from 10.30am-1.30pm.
  • We also require 2-3 volunteers to work with clients at our Stechford Satellite on Friday afternoons from 12.30-3.30pm. We also would like 2-3 people to help behind the scenes in the warehouse on Friday morning, getting ready for the session.
  • Volunteers are also needed for the satellite at St John’s church, Sparkhill on Wed from 10am-12.45pm

We also need volunteers to help us with supermarket collections throughout the year. Our big Tesco collection is coming up and we need people to greet customers, hand out fliers and sort food. There are many shifts available, so there should be something to suit your availability. The dates and times are as follows:

09.00-1700 Thurs 21st -Sat 23rd November in Tesco stores.

Even if you can only spare a couple of hours, it would be a great help. If you are interested, please contact Les on 0121 708 1398 or les@narthex.org.uk
