New Crisis Centre

7th February 2017

Sparkhill Foodbank and its parent charity Narthex Sparkhill are in the process of opening a new crisis centre. The 4000 sq ft centre will house the foodbank, the clothes bank, our money advice workers and a cafe, allowing us to expand our work and offer new services. We have received a grant to install a mezzanine floor and to improve the layout. Once the work is completed we hope to open in March. As a result of the extra capacity we require volunteers to help us expand our work. We are looking for the following:

  • 2 volunteers to help sort and distribute donated clothes on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning.
  • Warehouse volunteers Tuesday and Thursday mornings at to weigh, sort and date stock.
  • A Front of House client volunteer for Tuesday mornings
  • Three Front of House client volunteers for our new satellite distribution point at St John’s Church, Sparkhill on Wednesday mornings

We are also looking for a team to help deliver the Eat Well, Spend Less course. Run over 6 x 1 hour sessions, we need a course leader, preferably with cooking and teaching skills, and two course helpers to support the leader.

If you are able to help us at this exciting time please contact Gareth or Les.
